Ask for dated information
Request the current tariff and the terms for the service you need. Note when you received the information, its purpose and how often you will use it.
- Distinguish a deposit, a membership share and a service charge.
- Ask which permitted charges are one-off and which recur.
- Do not assume every requested charge is permitted; ask for its explanation and basis.
Compare the same service
Use the same amount, time period and pattern of use for a meaningful comparison. For borrowing, review the funds actually received, the interest calculation method and the total repayment.
- List each charge separately with its confirmation date.
- Review access times, withdrawal arrangements and requirements.
- Ask what changes if repayment is early or late.
Coverage on the comparison platform may vary. Check whether your provider and product are included, then confirm current information with that provider.
Keep a copy and resolve questions
Read the terms before signing. Keep the tariff you received, your agreement and payment evidence. If a charge is unclear, record your question and request an explanation.
